Finding the right school to begin your child’s academic career is an important process. All of the choices can be overwhelming and confusing for parents. As an expert in child development as well as cognitive and academic testing, I can help you to make the most informed decisions for your child.
Through interviews, screening tools developed by professionals in the field, and when necessary, cognitive and academic testing, I can gain a better understanding of your child’s strengths and areas that need development. I will then develop an individualized plan for your child to build the skills that they need to be successful in Kindergarten and beyond. I give comprehensive evaluations and recommendations, focusing not only on the cognitive and academic skills needed to succeed, but also the social and emotional readiness of your child.
I approach Kindergarten Readiness as not simply teaching to the entrance exam tests. Children’s performance in Kindergarten relies on much more than the narrow set of skills that are tested during these examinations. I approach Kindergarten Readiness as including the necessary cognitive and academic building blocks as well as the social skills and emotional readiness that will prepare your child to succeed in Kindergarten and throughout their academic career.
I partner with parents in my development of individualized plans and I use a variety of formats to best serve you and your child including one-on-one skills training, homework for skills training at home, or group skills training.
