I have specific clinical experience working with:
- ADHD
- Learning disorders
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Behavioral issues
- Low self-esteem
- Relationship stressors
- Sibling rivalry
- Trauma
- Abuse
- Foster-care and adoption
I am experienced in working with children of all ages to better handle stressors and optimize their growth.
I use my knowledge of child development to tailor my approach with your child to be individualized to their needs, interests, and developmental level.
With younger children, I utilize play therapy techniques, skill-building, and parent-training including Parent-Child Interaction Therapy.
These therapy techniques help children with learning to express their emotions, managing their anger, sadness, and anxiety, adjusting to changes such as the birth of a new sibling or divorce, or adjusting to entering school and school readiness.
As an Atlanta psychologist, I also help children maximize their functioning with ADHD and learning difficulties by understanding one’s own learning style, increasing attention strategies, and decreasing impulsivity.
Through CBT and play therapy techniques, I help children to cope with and decrease their anxieties including separation anxiety, childhood fears, and social anxiety.
I work with children to increase their self-confidence, and improve their peer relationships and parent-child interactions.
Through my work with children, I have found that sometimes working with children alone is not sufficient in maximizing their therapeutic gains.
In these cases, I involve parents in therapy using evidence-based approaches such as Parent-Child Interaction Therapy and parenting education.
At times, it can be difficult to know how to best address your child’s anxieties or behaviors, and I will work to help you use your parenting strengths to best help your child.
